Sharmin Segal REACTS To Social Media Trolling For Her Role In Heeramandi, Says 'Audience Is The King At The End Of The Day'
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, released on Netflix just over a month ago, remains a hot topic across social media. Sharmin Segal Mehta, one of the lead actresses, has become the subject of numerous memes and constant trolling. Critics target her for being "expressionless" and exhibiting inconsistent behavior towards her co-stars. The negativity grew so overwhelming that Sharmin disabled comments on an Instagram post featuring herself with Sanjay Leela Bhansali at the series' USA screening. For the first time since Heeramandi's release, Sharmin has addressed the social media buzz surrounding her. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, she acknowledged the importance of audience opinions. “The audience is the king at the end of the day. And as a creative person, it’s very important to acknowledge that. They have a right to their opinion – positive or negative. That’s one thing that gives me perspective and allows me to be okay,” she stated.

Sharmin noted that while the negative feedback seemed more prominent, there were also many positive responses that were often overlooked. “I had given my all to Alamzeb’s character. We tend to fixate on the negatives but there are so many positives that have also come along, which we don’t talk about. It’s perhaps not interesting enough to talk about positives and we tend to look over them to some degree,” she said. At 28 years old, Sharmin chose to avoid all discussions about her character Alamzeb after the release of Heeramandi. Only a few weeks ago did she begin to catch up on the reactions. “There was a point when I was not looking at many things [reviews] but then slowly, I realised that I was also missing out on a lot of love that I was getting. I’ve now started paying attention to that. Over the last few days, I decided to look through it all. The audience’s opinion is what will probably help you be the best version of yourself,” she explained.

In the face of criticism and negativity, Sharmin's response highlights her resilience and dedication to her craft. By embracing both positive and negative feedback, she aims to improve and become the best version of herself.
